Today, when it comes to recreation and sports, it seems like children have more choices than ever whether it’s team sports, individual sports, or just playing video games. Like all parents we want to educate our children and allow them to have fun, but don't know how to best achieve that. Little League is the answer.
Little League places a special emphasis on educating both children and adults about the many issues we face as members of a progressive society. These Special Initiatives underscore the fact that Little League is more than just a game, it's a program that enriches the lives of both players and volunteers alike.
Little League Initiatives are designed with children and families in mind and address some of society's most important issues. Little League provides these educational programs to benefit all Little League families and for the betterment of the communities in which they live, work and play.
Little League is the ONLY National Youth Sports organization to require Coaches, Managers, Board Members and volunteers that work with your children to undergo a background check against the sexual offenders registry.

Fairness and skill training are important parts of Little League. All upper levels of BOTH Softball and Baseball use a draft system to ensure an equal and impartial division of talent. Boundaries of each chartered league are protected. "Raiding" by other Little Leagues is not allowed. All players are guaranteed playing time, in fact a manager can be removed for not following the playing time rules.

Chartered Little Leagues receive the lowest rates and maximum coverage for insurance (Accident, General Liability, Association Directors and Officer’s Liability, and Crime). This insurance is included in the registration cost of each player and is NOT an added expense that must be borne by individual families. Chartered Little Leagues have an option to take part in the International Tournament, with traveling expenses defrayed beyond the local level. There is major network television coverage and coverage in all other types of media. No other program does as much for its membership, and the international recognition of Little League is unmatched by any other youth sports organization. Little League doesn't invite you in with a low registration fee but forget to tell you that you have to buy all the team equipment. All uniforms and team equipment are provided by Rushmore Little League,as well as field maintenance and facilities.
All chartered Little Leagues have a voice via democratic procedure in regard to changes in the rules and regulations.
In the Rapid City area there are over 100 teams in Baseball and Softball as well as 25 fields to play on. There is league play and inter league play without having to travel 150 to 350 miles.

Below are just a few of the reasons Little League Baseball and Softball is the program of choice by far for more communities than any other youth sports organization in the world.
